Overview

Discover Florence, Italy from a different angle! This guided tour begins with a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most famous museums in the world for its extraordinary collections of paintings and ancient statues, including masterpieces such as Botticelli's Spring. From there your guide will take you through the Vasari Corridor, the Medici's secret passage way across the Arno, to the Pitti Palace. Built to allow safe and private passage for the grand dukes, it now is filled with precious works of art. Be sure to include the combined Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor Guided Tour ticket in your itinerary - it combines Florence, Italy highlights and secrets in a perfect way!

Warning: Throughout the month of February, due to works in the Vasari Corridor, there will be some changes to the tour. It will begin from the Boboli Gardens doing the opposite trail. After the visit to the Corridor, the group will have to exit from the Boboli Gardens and then go to the Uffizi entrance to visit the museum. This program change will, however, allow a longer visit to the Uffizi, ending at 6:30pm. After the visit, customers who wish may remain in the museum until closure time.

Details

Meet with your guide and visit the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most extraordinary collections of paintings and ancient statues in the world.

The Uffizi Gallery collection of 12th century and Renaissance paintings contains some of the greatest masterpieces of art ever created, including works by Giotto, Simone Martini, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Mantegna, Correggio, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo, and Caravaggio. The collections of German, Dutch and Flemish painting including Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens are similarly important.

Next, we will proceed to the visit of the Vasari Corridor, an elevated walkway of more than one kilometer. The Vasari Corridor links the Palazzo Vecchio to the Palazzo Pitti via the Uffizi Gallery. It was constructed by Giorgio Vasari (the Uffizi architect) upon the wish of Grand Duke Cosimo I in 1565 for the wedding of his son Francesco with Giovanna of Austria. This extraordinary aerial way was built to allow the grand dukes to move safely from their private residence to the government palace. It now contains an important collection of portraits and paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries.
