Details

Discover with our Guide the part of the historical centre where it is still possible to imagine the life of Florence in the fourteenth century with the kiosks selling the old and tasty “street food” like wine and tripe that is very appreciated by the Florentines even today. An itinerant adventure among flavours of wine and typical foods like "trippa" and "lampredotto", "panino con il Peposo", "crostini fiorentini", "pappa al pomodoro",  "ribollita" and "coccoli fritti", in the heart of the medieval tower-houses quarter. You will visit the stunning Church of Orsanmichele, with the wonderful tabernacle of Orcagna, a Florentine Gothic masterpiece. You will learn how the level of civilization of this city has been expressed, since the Middle Ages, even by the enthusiasm of charitable not-clerical Confraternities of whom we will admire the premises, like Misericordia (the oldest in the world dating back to 1224) and Buonuomini (1442) that are still involved in charity and helping people in need. You will discover, in front of the ancient Church of the Badia Fiorentina (978), the Home of Dante Alighieri, the great poet of the Divine Comedy, and the church where Dante met Beatrice and where she is buried. Then you will see the ancient towers, like Pagliazza, uncommonly circular, and you will arrive through narrow and characteristic streets in Piazza del Duomo. This will be the end of your walk to the discovery of taste, art and culture of the city, mostly off the beaten routes of mass tourism.
