Prato is the capital of the Province of Prato, at only a few kilometers distance from Florence, and close to major cultural centers such as Pistoia, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena. With its rich history and dedication to culture and beauty, Prato is the ideal destination for a day-trip from Florence.

The city is situated at the foot of Monte Retaia, and the Bisenzio River, a tributary of the Arno, flows through it. Art and architecture are firmly rooted in this lively city, which has been a center for trade since the middle ages.

Prato's economy has historically been based on the textile industry, and has more recently become a centre of the slow food movement. It boasts many mouth-watering local specialities, including the cantucci, a delicious almond biscotti you'll get to taste on this tour.
